Profiles of the Apostles | Simon: Piety

Simon only appears in Scripture in 4 places, but his nick-name speaks volumes of his dedication to his faith. Called a zealot, this would indicate his life was pious... no, not full of sweet fruit filled desserts with a crispy flaky crust that has you going back for more and more. We're talking about dedication and devotion, that's piety. We're not trying to create tradition or a guilt driven actions, but learning that life can be full when we commit ourselves to practices that draw us closer to God.

    Fighting Lions – Part 1
Imagine the wind whipping in your face as snow is falling, you're staring down a lion in the wild. No cage, no handler, just a hungry beast that easily doubles or even triples your weight. What do you do? Run? No, you pursue it! You chase it into a pit and defeat this beast that threatened your safety. This is the story of Benaiah a warrior found in 2 Samuel 23.

Often, this isn't the way we handle challenges in life, instead we run. Through this teaching series we will unpack some of life's biggest challenges and take on the lions that threaten us whether it's mistruth or ignorance in certain areas of our life. Among our topics we will discuss two of the biggest areas of discontent in life, relationships and finances, along with others that bring big challenges in our everyday moments.

    Easter: Alive
    Series: Easter 2015
Easter is celebrated with a strange tradition of taking freaked-out children to take photos with a 6ft out-of-proportion bunny that leaves eggs filled with candy. What? No wonder kids are afraid of the Easter bunny! But why do we approach God with the same kind of fear? It's misunderstanding. We don't understand who God is or what he did for us. We don't understand the simplicity of salvation and freedom from sin. This teaching explores the fact that a risen Jesus, who is alive today, makes our God approachable. It doesn't matter our past, God loves and forgives. JESUS IS ALIVE!

Broken – Part 2 – Broken for the Broken
We live in a broken world. This world isn’t recently broken, it was broken when Jesus walked the earth. Throughout His ministry when encountering the broken He was moved with compassion and gave hope. Jesus is the hope the world needs and we need to become broken for the broken. Broken in such a way that it moves us to compassion. We need to be moved to do something that both meets the physical needs of the broken and the spiritual needs.

The world needs hope. Jesus is that hope and we are His hands and feet to this world in today.

Judges: Week 4 We Need A King
    Series: Judges
God created man with the goal and desire to have relationship with him, but when man severed that relationship with sin he tried to lead himself. The result is breaking the heart of God and falling subject to the mess with which we make of God's beautiful creation. The book of Judges in Scripture shows us how great our need for God to lead and guide us, our need of Jesus to be king of our lives and what happens when we try to be the king.

    Thankful for Community
The Apostle Paul was thankful for the community and fellowship he had with the people in the church of Philippi. This week we take a look at the value of community in lives of those who are participating in it and those who are watching it. What should community really look like?

What power does a wish have? How about a good thought for someone? Hope is only as strong as that which it's placed in. Hope in hope is dead. Hope in Jesus is eternal. We open up the first chapter of Ephesians to see what Paul writes to the church in Ephesus on the topic of hope.
