Have you signed up for a Life Group?

You haven’t signed up for a Life Group yet? What are you waiting for!?

Imagine what it would be like doing life with people who actually cared about you. Imagine it was a group of people who had similar goals in life, held similar values and genuinely were concerned for your best. Imagine actually having that network of support and encouragement through the good and bad in life.
…it’s possible. Now, go sign up for a Life Group.

What’s a Life Group?

Simple, it’s a small group of people who you regularly spend time with that you can talk to, rely on, and learn about scripture with. As a church grows larger in size, it must also remain small and encourage intimate relationships. So, we’ve developed Life Groups to help you do life together with people who will encourage, support and challenge you in life and faith.

How do they work?

Most of our Life Groups follow a simple schedule that starts with dinner together at the host’s home followed by a discussion and teaching time. The teaching is normally based on a video based study or takes our Sunday morning teachings to a deeper level of application. From time to time, groups may opt to go out and do an activity together, whether it’s a group member’s sports game, volunteering in the community or just a fun group trip. Each group is slightly different, but the vision is all the same – develop stronger relationships and deepen your faith.

How do I sign up?

Next time you are at Journey, check out our Life Group registration area and sign up for a group. If you are a bit of tech head and want to sign up online, you can click here. Don’t wait too long because some are filling up!

New Years Weekend Worship

It’s amazing how fast this year has gone and how much God has done through and in each of you here at Journey! Get ready for an incredible weekend at Journey and with your loved ones.

Please remember that we are gathering on Saturday for worship this weekend instead of Sunday do to our building holiday schedule. There will be NO SUNDAY SERVICE.

Saturday, December 31st

10AM Family Brunch

11AM Worship and Communion

Final chance for Operation Christmas Child!

Operation Christmas Child Sunday is here!

What’s happening…

This coming Sunday, following our worship service, we will be gathering to pack up the boxes we have been collecting supplies for and prepping the boxes we have returned for transfer to a local drop off center.
Join us for a pot-luck luncheon as we gather to eat and celebrate together what God is doing through our church as we spread the gospel around the world.

Join us immediately after our 10:30am worship service for a meal together before we start packing up the boxes.
Bring a main dish to share and an appetizer or a dessert. Let us know what you’re bringing or see what others are bringing by commenting on our Facebook page post

Style: "Agfa"

Packing Party

After we fill up on some grub, we’ll clear the tables and get to packing boxes up and prepping them for transport. We will open boxes and double check their contents and pack up the church boxes with the supplies we have.
Kiddos who are hanging out with us can either help pack boxes with an adult or can color some OCC coloring pages to send off in our boxes for the kids on the other end!

Help us get the rest of the supplies we are looking for! Here’s the list as it stands today. Check out our Facebook post here for the updated version.
  • (20) Toothpaste
  • (25) Soap boxes/holders
  • (15) Notepads/small notebook (keep in mind size to fit in the box)
  • (20) Pair socks (we currently have 7 pr girls)
If you would like to get ideas of what else you can pack in a box you may have taken home, visit the Samaritan’s Purse website here for some ideas!
Don’t forget to bring your $7 to ship your personal box and or consider sponsoring one of the church boxes we are building.

Financial Peace University Preview

What is Financial Peace University?

FPU Preview

In case you were unable to attend our preview class on Tuesday, September 13, here is a little bit of the content we covered.
FPU is a 9 week course that teaches you practical skills about how to relate to money that will change your life now and impact your family for generations.
Some of these skills include budgeting, paying off debt, saving, investing and preparing for emergencies.
Watch part of Dave Ramsey’s story of struggle and bankruptcy that motivated him to teach what you’ll learn in this class.

It’s not just a motto, it’s the truth.

What if you could actually change your life? What if you learned how to make a budget and you were surrounded by people who were helping you to stick to it? What if you could buy a car or a house with cash?
The reality is that you can, it just takes effort and discipline.

Living without debt

In our society today, it’s “normal” to live paycheck to paycheck and in major debt. Be “weird” and live with a plan that does not enslave you.
Here’s the story of Mike and Christy and how they were motivated to live “weird” by not choosing debt, which enabled them to buy a house with cash.

So, what do I do next?

First, commit to changing your life by registering for the class and ordering materials.
Classes are Tuesdays at 7pm starting September 20 through November 15.

Login to FPU Central

After you receive your materials, log into FPU Central and get yourself ready for life change. Watch the video lesson on your own each week and come to class to discuss and apply the content.

Transform your life

Follow the FPU principles to see your life completely transformed. It’s Biblical and practical wisdom that will enable you to live with peace about your finances.

Family Picnic and Sunset Baptisms

Why baptism?

Jesus instructed the disciples saying, “go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you.” (Matthew 28:19-20) Baptism is embedded into the very DNA of the Church. Baptism itself isn’t our salvation, but it’s a decision to publicly identify ourselves with Christ and be obedient to His instructions showing the world our acceptance of salvation in Him.

Sign up if you haven’t been baptized!

We want to see everyone who has committed themselves to Christ follow His example and be baptized. If you have put your faith in Jesus and have committed to follow Him with your life, then you are ready to be baptized! Sign up by calling us, emailing us, or by texting us with your name and “Baptize Me” to 508-617-8926.

Details for Sunday

Formally we’ll be meeting from 5-7pm on Sunday, September 11. A lifeguard will be on duty for us from 4-7:30pm for those who want to swim, as well the bathrooms will be open during those hours for anyone who may need to change or use the facilities.
We’ll be using the picnic area at the beach to spend time with each other and celebrate. Bring a picnic dinner for you and your family and a dessert to share with everyone. There is a playground on site where kids (and adults) can play before and after baptisms. The Big Red Slide is an awesome experience for both kids and adults – bring an old dry towel or burlap sack to slide on and enhance your family’s experience.
For those getting baptized, please arrive at 4:30 to the picnic area. We’ll discuss baptism details and pray together before families start arriving for dinner. Sunset is at 7pm and we’ll be celebrating our faith in Christ through baptism starting around 6:30.
Current forecasts show thunderstorms early in the day on Sunday, clearing to a beautiful sunny afternoon with a high around 82. We will gather and celebrate as long as the beach is open and the beach staff member deems the weather conditions to be safe.

Mustaches and parking cones…

So last week we got into the philosophy behind a belief in God and the reasons why we can really trust the Bible. This week we answer questions about developing our personal faith as a response to our belief in God and how personal habits help and hurt our faith.

This Sunday is the annual Our Lady of Light Band parade and feast across the street from our building. Sometime on Sunday (we don’t know exactly when because the details aren’t posted anywhere easily accessible) roads will be closed around our building and a marching band will parade through the streets.

Typically the South end of Quarry St. and Quequechan St. are partially closed for the parade route. In the past, the best way to access the church is from I-195 exit 7 to Pleasant St to avoid road closures and most delays.

Because of the feast, many people try to use our building parking lot. Ben, one of the maintenance guys from the mill, will be in the parking lot directing feast traffic to the lower lot. Let him know you’re here for church and he’ll let you through to the main lot. Be sure to thank him — maybe offer to get him a coffee or something from Dunkin Donuts if you’re here early enough! *wink wink*
Leave yourself extra time to get to Journey this Sunday. If you arrive a little early, you’ll have time for some good conversation and an extra cup of coffee!

Have you started giving online yet?

As technology has advanced, currency and the ways we pay for things have changed. You can apply and get approved for a mortgage completely online, pay all of your bills online and use your phone at checkout as a means of payment. As a church we recognize the need to adapt and match how culture conducts business. So, you can give online with your mobile device or computer one time or set up a recurring donation to happen automatically.

How to start giving online

It’s that simple. Just visit our giving page at http://journeychristian.church/givenow to get started.
